What are Featured Initiative Awards?
On World Pulse, our community members have their feet on the ground and their hands on the keyboard. When you set up an initiative on World Pulse, you join a movement of women making change on ground, all over the world.
World Pulse offers several calls for initiatives relevant to global current events. We believe that women are experts in their own lives, and we always welcome you to tell us about your work on ground and map impact using the World Pulse Impact Dashboard.
Sharing your initiatives on World Pulse will allow you to receive comments and encouragement from peers all over the world — you could also be selected to receive a World Pulse Initiative Award and gain additional visibility for your work.
Beginning at the end of 2023, our team reviews posted initiatives to select projects to receive additional visibility. This includes awarding honorariums to members who have especially standout initiatives.
Those who are receive an Initiative Award for their Featured Initiative receive:
- Publication on World Pulse’s channels
- Personalized support to enhance your initiative
- Opportunity to be promoted to partner media outlets
- A $100 US honorarium
- Eligibility for Annual World Pulse Awards in the category of Changemakers

What happens after I set up my initiative?
You can keep the World Pulse community updated on the status of your initiative by posting Initiative updates. Once you post your first Initiative update stating the number of people you have impacted, your Impact Dashboard will be activated and will be shown in your profile. For both your Initiative and your Initiative updates, keep in mind that it doesn’t matter if you’re still in the ideation phase. Use this feature to let your World Pulse sisters know about your vision and your plans. You can even ask them for advice.

How often should I update my initiative?
You can update your initiative as often as you want and can - every effort you take to achieve your goal can be mapped as an initiative update.

Once you’ve achieved your goal, put up an initiative update indicating that you have achieved your goal.
Can you give me tips to set up an effective Initiative?
To set up an effective initiative, the following steps might be useful:
- Keep your goal SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely.
- Name the activities you will undertake
- Identify how your activities will relate to the goal you want to achieve
- Explain how you will measure your impact
- Identify a realistic number of people you want to impact
Are Featured Initiative Awards related to the World Pulse badges?
A Changemaker is anyone who has launched an Impact Dashboard on World Pulse. Once you have completed your first Initiative, you will be awarded the badge of Changemaker! Initiatives that are set up join a pool of initiatives from which we will select featured initiatives.
How do I earn a Changemaker's Badge?
A Changemaker is anyone who has launched an Impact Dashboard on World Pulse.
World Pulse Changemakers are leaders who:
- Are running transformative initiatives and advocacy campaigns.
- Have set up an Initiative on the World Pulse platform.
- Abide by our community guidelines
