Remember, whatever story you have to share, it matters and we want to hear from you.

To help you get started, we invite you to consider these questions:

  • Are you sharing your personal story? First person narratives—your story in your own words—are powerful and help people feel connected to you and to the issue you are writing about. You can also tell someone else’s story, but make sure you have permission to use their experiences in your stories.
  • Is your story solutions-oriented? Even when addressing difficult topics, solutions-oriented stories shine light in the darkness. Let's help everyone see that when we share our stories, we have the power to create change in the world.
  • Is your story true and original? We are interested in your unique voice and contributions to global conversations. World Pulse is a space for women to share their truths. Of course, we welcome poetry and creative submissions like photography, drawings, etc; as well as multimedia posts.
  • Does your story engage the senses? People respond to stories that are descriptive and that help them connect with what is being shared.
  • Is your story focused? Consider focusing around a specific turning point, moment, or scene to tell your story. If you have many ideas, consider submitting several stories rather than trying to fit everything in one contribution.
  • Is your story easy to understand and share? While there is no strict word limit, most of the stories we select to be featured or highlighted are between 800 and 1300 words. For video, consider sharing that are short, no more than 5 minutes.

The best way to learn about storytelling is to think about the stories that move and inspire you!
